Take a pleasant walk to an abandoned limestone quarry along Ruffner’s main trail. Along the way, visit several overlooks offering good views of Ruffner Mountain, as well as a rock structure, which was part of a hoisting system used to transport iron-ore cars up and down the mountain. The trail passes through a mixed hardwood forest dominated by middle-aged oaks and maples. In spring and summer, wildflowers are abundant, but numerous signs discourage hikers from picking them.
