Definitely a geologists dream, this hike leads visitors through an amazing rock garden amid a dominant forest of cedar in one of Alabamas remarkable state parks. With its miracle mile of caverns and limestone formations, Rickwood is unique among Alabamas state parks. Formed over 260 million years ago, the caverns, part of an ancient, dry seabed, were carved through the action of flowing water. The cave is still active; dripping water accumulates residue that continues to slowly build cave structures. This easy, short trail rises and falls gently, but is extremely rocky?a sturdy pair of shoes is a must.
